During our last family reunion there were many DSLR cameras. Everyone
was taking pictures using all kinds of lens. I’m not sure which but
one of my siblings photographed me with a telephoto lens. I pulled
this from the pool o photos from the reunion. I’ll probably use this
as a profile picture.

I am a transparent person. I tend to be truthful about things in my life; I talk about my experiences. However, I am afraid those things will come back to bite me if I post them online for the world to see. I am very slow to share my opinion. Who knows! What I am sharing right now could cost me a future job. I would love to blog, but I am not sure I am ready for any potential backlash from it.

I am not sure. I wonder, "is it right for potential employers to Google a person's online activity?" I'm some cases I believe so; in others, I think it is a bit much. I don't think a person should post pictures of his/her illegal activity, but random thoughts should be left opened. Maybe I don't understand the issue. Maybe I am uninformed. Either way, I live in paranoia.

In the meantime, I'll work on blogging and stuff. I'll try a little bit at a time to see what happens.
Blame it on the user (me), but I am having issues with Posterous. I
have attempted to post two things from my iPhone via email and both
have gone crazy. The first post completely left off the text that I
typed. The second left off the picture.

Typing this stuff on a mobile phone ain’t pleasant anyway. I surely
don’t want to retype. Then I have to delete the post from all of the
sites that Posterous posted it to because it doesn’t look right.
Daunting.

I’ll keep playing with it. Maybe I’ll learn from my mistakes.
Hopefully this will post and the iPhone won’t change my words
mysteriously.

I love spending moments with my daughter. She is truly a daddy's girl.

Today she called me and asked if we could hang out. Of course, I must drop everything to fulfill her request. So we went out for dinner at Chili's.

Read…My…Lens

I am loving this camera. It is a Canon EOS Rebel XS. I started with a Nikon D50 that I’d ordered from Ebay, but that was a bad experience. The lens was terrible and the AF didn’t work at all. It took at least 30 seconds to get a clear shot due to focusing. There were moments that I tried to capture that were completely over and done before the camera would even think to focus. Friends became frustrated with poses as they waited for me to take a shot; I was frustrated waiting on the thing to focus. Thankfully, the gentlemen who sold it to me refunded my money, which I used with a few extra dollars to buy this one.

I have been taking shots everyday of just about anything that grabs my attention like buildings, cars, taillights, trees, and so forth. My flickr activity has greatly increased.

Also, it is amazing the level of respect it gets compared to a point-and-shoot or a camera phone. People seem delighted to have their picture taken. Suddenly, I don’t feel odd pointing a camera at someone. Wait…other than the police….that’s a no-no for a black man with anything dark that will slightly resemble a weapon.

As my friends tell me, “I think I’ve found my niche!”

Pollen is really bad here in Arkansas. I hate it for those who have allergies.
